A JEALOUS BOYFRIEND LAUNCHED AN ATTACK AT A FELLOW MAN FOR SPEAKING TO GIRLFRIEND


Ricky Scott, 29, knocked out professional poker player Michael Kane outside a nightclub in Nottingham city centre on March 1 this year.
Mr Kane, 27, from Glasgow, was so left so badly injured he had to be fed through a straw. He was visiting the city for a poker tournament and approached two women after seeing one was upset.

reports said Scott of New Basford, Nottingham, was sentenced to 32 months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court , where Judge Steven Evans said the attack was based on anger fuelled by jealousy.

"(When people see Mr Kane's scars) he had to constantly retell the story and relive that event.
"I have no doubt that you are sorry for what you did."
CCTV shows Scott running up to Mr Kane, then knocking him to the ground with one punch which resulted in multiple skull fractures.

Scott told the court he thought his girlfriend was intimidated by Mr Kane and that he had launched the attack because heard a racial insult thrown at her - a claim rejected by the judge.
Scott said: "I went with the original intention of pushing the man away but the next thing I know he is on the ground. I had no intention of causing harm. I heard the racial slur and I hit him."
